The Clinical Supervision I: Building Chemical Dependency Counselor Skills curriculum addresses the supervisory skills needed for mentoring, teaching, and assessing the chemical dependency counselor. The training curriculum is based on TAP 21: Addiction Counseling Competencies (ACC) (CSAT, 1998) and the Performance Assessment Rubrics for the Addiction Counseling Competencies (PAR) (Arrasmith and Gallon, 2001) as the framework for defining the work of the chemical dependency counselor. The Competencies feature the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential to the effective delivery of evaluation and treatment services for substance use disorders. The PAR is a system for evaluating the proficiency of counselors in their use of the Competencies. This curriculum was developed by the Northwest Frontier Addiction Technology Transfer Center .
