The Psychotherapeutic Medications 2006: What Every Counselor Should Know is now available in Spanish!  Medicamentos Psicotérapeuticos del 2006 maintains the same structure and organization in both the Spanish and English versions and cross-references each medication’s generic name in both languages.  Practitioners and patients who are not themselves bilingual will find these products particularly helpful in communicating medication management issues.  Behavioral health specialists from Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico reviewed the product’s language use insuring the word usage and technical terms are adequate and clearly understandable for a wide range of Hispanic audiences.

Special thanks to the lead translator and Project Manager, Ignacio Alejandro "Alex" Barajas-Muñoz, M.S., and assistance in content review from the Caribbean Basin ATTC.

Originally developed as a companion piece to the Mid-America ATTC systems change curriculum, A Collaborative Response: Addressing the Needs of Consumers with Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders, this edition includes adaptations made for inclusion in CSAT’s TIP 42: Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons with Co-Occurring Disorders. The language has been modified to increase readability for a larger audience, and in keeping with the goal of updating the brochure annually, several new medications are included.

The 2006 edition includes a new hyperlink feature.

As a companion product to the Psychotherapeutic Medications 2004 and 2006 Editions, the Mid-America ATTC developed a clinical report format useful in coordinating the services of addiction treatment programs and the patient physician(s). This one-page document provides an opportunity for the counselor to voice concerns and/or ask questions of the patient’s physician.
